Newborn Intensive Care Foundation
The Cursleys established the NICF as a way of saying thank you to the dedicated medical and nursing stafff or the support they were given. The Foundation’s mission is to raise funds to purchase equipment that enhances the care delivered in the Neonatal Intensive Care and Special Care Nursery.
Purchases have ranged from additional breast pumps and recliner chairs for nursing mums up to state of the art medical equipment costing hundreds of thousands of dollars. Some of the purchases have meant that babies with particular conditions can be treated in Canberra rather
than being transferred to Sydney for treatment.
The Foundation also contributes to a nurse education fund that enables nursing staff to attend conferences throughout the world to ensure the SCN and NICU stay at the fore front of neonatal care.
The Need for Funds
Whilst the ACT Government provides funding for most staff and necessary equipment, further funds are always
required. Ongoing community support is important.
The Foundation needs help from people like you to spread the word on the excellent care provided by the NICU and
SCN to encourage people and businesses to donate or hold their own fundraiser for the Foundation.
The Foundation is 100% voluntary so 100% of money donated goes directly to helping sick babies from the Canberra region.
All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
